Tourism remains a vital part of Sheppey’s economy and we want people to continue to holiday here. The Kent Parks plans retain and enhance this role with a dedicated and improved holiday park at Shurland Dale and Sunnymead 1. A total of 250 holiday units will be created which will be modern and fit for purpose.

In recent months improvement works have already been carried out to the previously disused swimming pool at Shurland Dale Holiday Park. This has included a full refurbishment of the pool itself, as well as the associated changing and viewing areas, representing an investment of approximately £350,000. Further enhancements to central facilities are proposed as part of the wider scheme, including the creation of a new communal garden space.
To promote more sustainable and active travel across the site, dedicated access paths will be created which link each pitch to the shared parking areas and the other facilities. In order to create a new access road for Kent Parks approximately 90 pitches will need to be removed. Those pitches that do not meet the minimum fire safety separation standards will be removed.
